I saw The Creature last night and it was fantastic! Trevor Allen's adaptation of Mary Shelley's Frankenstein was just beautiful, Rob Melrose's direction was stunning, and the set was simple but gorgeous. I wanted to just play on the set. Stephanie Buchner did the lights (she did our Midsummer lights) and they are, again, stunning. It only plays through 11/7, so you should get your tickets now! It's at the Thick House in the city-- a great place to see a play. http://blackboxtheatre.com
The East Bay Express gave a glowing review to See How We Are! Critic Rachel Snow calls the show "brilliant" with "an extremely well-crafted script," and praises the cast, set, costumes, and sound. She also notes the recent spate of updated Greek classics and calls ours "the best of the bunch." Read the whole review.
Only three performances left -- don't miss it!
NPR featured one of Brandon Patton's songs as the song of the day! Impact faithful will remember him as the musical half of the amazing Jukebox Stories (Prince Gomolvilas was the other half). Check it out at:

Each year, Crowded Fire sponsors a theatre company chili cookoff, and it's one of the most fun events of the year. Come to the LGBT Center in SF on Sat 10/17 to see Impact REVEL in our TRIUMPH over everyone else's chili! ;-)
For a $20 ticket (in advance; $30 at the door) you get an all you can eat "gas pass" that allows you to taste as much as you want of all the chilis there. Each company brings a veggie version, a traditional version, and an "anything goes" version.

Read the whole thingImpact associate Brandy de Lara married the awesome, handsome, and all-around good guy Vlad Di Natale yesterday at the gorgeous St. Joseph's Cathedral Basilica in San Jose. Impact's AD Melissa Hillman and PM Diana Strachan were bridesmaids and Impact's TD, Jon Nagel, was a groomsman. Congratulations Brandy and Vlad! Have a great time on your honeymoon in Italy. Everyone at Impact wishes you two the best.
See How We Are is heading into the second half of its run, and it's been a wild ride. Audiences are loving it, enjoying some amazing performances, especially from Impact resident actor Seth Thygesen, whose portrayal of military man Paul is both hilarious and moving. We started rehearsals today for Steve Yockey's Large Animal games, opening in early November. LAG's cast is loaded with Impact favorites: Marissa Keltie, Elissa Dunn, Cindy Im, Jai Sahai, and Tim Redmond all star in this ensemble cast, and Impact welcomes actors Leontyne Mbele-Mbong and Roy Landaverde, both first-timers at Impact but well-known to the Bay Area theatre community. We're really excited about both of these shows!
Wow -- as I write this, only 7 spots remain for our 3rd Annual Full Houses poker tourney. The prize pool will be huge, the food table will be overflowing, we'll have special guests in the house, and everyone will have an amazing time. Plus, on top of all the prizes you can win, just for playing you'll take home a pack of two world-famous Smiley Toothbrush Holders, courtesy of longtime Impact supporter and charter subscriber Phil Brown, who'll be playing the tournament.
Like I said, tickets are almost gone, so make sure you have yours.
The Full Houses prize list just keeps on growing: 2 passes to the Exploratorium and 2 autographed copies of Warwick Dunnett's Poker Wizardshttp://pokerwizards.net, which has expert NLHE tournament advice from some of the top names in the game. Plus, Warwick and his wife will be playing the tournament -- see how you do against someone who's sat down with the best in the field!
This year, for the first time, we not only have prizes for the top three winners, we have medals! These are made from the finest (ahem) die-cast metal in gold, silver, and bronze, with a custom ribbon in Impact's colors, black and silver. Photo after the jump.
Read the whole thingWe just keep adding more and more prizes to the poker tournament! We now have a second-place prize of a night at the luxuriously renovated Hotel Shattuck Plaza, a third-place prize of $200 in Saks Fifth Avenue gift cards, and more grab bag prizes: videogames from Eidos and gift baskets filled with gourmet poker snacks from Trader Joe's in Emeryville. Oh, and the $500 gift card arrived today from Amazon. I have to say, there's something quietly impressive about it.
