Pinup Girls in the Secret Lair

posted by Cheshire on Mon, Jul 10, 2006
in Ninja-Pirates

JennWe're deep into production on Sinfully Delicious: The Impact Theatre Cocktail Book, the first item we're producing that will feature the Impact Pinup Girls (that's Jenn to the right there). The book, containing recipes for 14 slammin' original concoctions and a pinup girl to accompany each one, will be available starting at the Night of Sin.

But the Impact Ninja-Pirates can get an advance look at the first seven pinup girls -- they're in the Ninja-Pirate Secret Lair. Wha?? You're not an Impact Ninja-Pirate? Complete a mission and get initiated right now! (FYI -- the images in the Secret Lair are a lot bigger than that little image to the right.)

Click the link above to get more info on the missions you can complete, how many points you get for each one, and what you can receive for your points.

UPDATE: Sinfully Delicious: The Impact Theatre Cocktail Book is done! It features 14 original cocktail recipes, each accompanied by a gorgeous Impact Pinup Girl. Click here for sample spreads and ordering info.

Cruisin' for a Postcard?

Cheshire and I spent today walking up and down Shattuck, dropping off stacks of postcards in stores. Would you believe Starbuxx allows advertising but NOT Peet's? Keep an eye out in every store you walk into on Shattuck -- there might be a little stack of House of Lucky postcards waiting to be noticed!

Hunter Gatherers ROCKS

Peter Sinn Nachtrieb, whose middle name is SINN, I mean, HELLO, is the playwright of Impact's upcoming show Colorado (opening in Sept; the show right after House of Lucky). Peter has a show running RIGHT NOW produced by Killing My Lobster and playing at the Thick House in SF -- the best venue in the whole entire city because there's assloads of free parking all around. The show was just extended -- there are eight more performances. It's called Hunter Gatherers, and it kicks ass. Check out the website for more information. Carne!

Hamlet in Space: A Rock Opera

posted by Desdemona on Fri, Jul 7, 2006
in Irrelevance

I heard about this through a directing pal of mine on a separate e-mail discussion list:

http://www.hamletinspace.com/

Hamlet In Space. Oh, yes. As if the entire Shakespearean canon hasn't been subjected to enough degradation and mockery. Hamlet in Space is not only a "rock opera," but also a "concept album." I imagine it's what might have happened if the members of Pink Floyd and Andy Warhol flunked high school English together and then decided to vent their woes about it while on a severe LSD trip.

With the exception of the "in space" addition, the entire musical preserves Shakespare original text as lyrics--of course, taking the liberty to repeat certain refrains, as rock songs tend to do. With song titles like Suits of Woe, The Rest is Silence, and--of course--To Be Or Not To Be and Get Thee to a Nunnery, it's potentially so bad it could actually be good. Or at least funny. Or just plain bad, actually.

And, OF COURSE these people are German! Is there any culture that's more obsessed with deconstruction and post-post-modernism-slash-surrealism?

Do I hear Measure For Measure: The Musical in our future?

It's the part of little old New York that runs into Times Square

posted by Jennifer on Wed, Jul 5, 2006
in Irrelevance

I'm actually staying on 48th Street, but close enough. Regardless, I'm outta here today for summer in New York. Yes, yes, I know, it's going to be hot. Relax people, I can handle it. Besides, I'm too damn excited and will be way too busy to be bothered. Classes at the AADA start Monday and it'll be solid school interrupted by a helluvah lot of kick-ass fun in The Big Apple (Jeff Meanza, if you don't reply to my email, I swear to god I will hunt your ass down when I arrive). My apartment is at 48th and 9th, so if you want to come visit, just say the word. In other news, Chesh has created a monster. I've started my own blog. As soon as I add a decent amount of indecent content, I'll post the url here. OK then, have an ultra-awesome summer, stay in touch and go to Impact's Night of Sin (We need the money, peeps! Plus, you'll have so damn much naughty fun I promise you, you'll never recover.) Oh, and when the Pinup Girl Cocktail book comes out, buy, like 9 copies. It'll bring good luck. I'm f'ing serious.

Read the whole thing

If there were an FM to FR

Best line I've read lately online: "I would RTFM if there were an FM to FR." As I work on isolating the pinup girls from their backgrounds (especially the hair), I'm repeating this like a mantra.

posted by Cheshire on Mon, Jul 3, 2006
in Night of Sin

Tickets for Impact's Night of Sin, our first-ever benefit, are on sale now. The plans keep on getting better and better -- just this week we announced that Carol Queen will be reading from her new book of female domination erotica, Whipped. Now we can announce that the performance section will include a full-scale catfight choreographed by Christopher Morrison and starring Carolyn Zola and Danielle Perata, the Kathys from Money & Run, Episode 4.

Only 150 tickets will be sold, and they're already starting to go. (Members of our mailing list got a head start -- want a similar advantage? Join the list!) Advance tickets are only $35 general, $25 students, TBA members and seniors. At the door it will be $45/30 -- if there are any tickets left. Get yours before they're gone!

Oh, the sex we could be having on these postcards!

posted by Cheshire on Sat, Jul 1, 2006

Seriously, why did we never know that we could be getting 5x8 postcards so inexpensively, AND that it costs the same to mail them when you're mailing at the nonprofit bulk mail standard rate? We'd had a great deal on 10,000 4x6 postcards that we'd been working for years, but we never ever distributed all of them, not even for Othello.

Last week we got wind that we could be printing 5,000 5x8 postcards, just as fast and for a little less than our old deal for the 10,000 4x6 cards. And as it turns out we've been using 3rd-class mail to send our postcards, and you only get a break on 4x6 cards (or smaller) if you're sending them 1st-class.

Oh, and the room afforded by a 5x8 card! It's like we've been on a twin bed all these years, and suddenly we've leapfrogged the full and landed on a queen-sized mattress. Oh, the sex we could have on these postcards!

All this to say that the House of Lucky postcards are in, and we're pretty psyched. Soon you'll find them in cafes and bookstores, and if you're on our mailing list it'll be in the mail this week. Not on our mailing list? Fix that now.
