Call the Impact info line at 510 464-4468 and hum* the Money & Run theme music after the beep, and leave your name and email address or phone number. We'll pick five winners at random and give each of them two free tickets to opening night, Nov 16. Our judges' favorite singer will receive four free tickets to opening night.

Deadline: Tue, Nov 13 at midnight PST

*La-la-las and da-da-das will also be accepted. And if you make up lyrics for the theme song and sing them, we may even throw in an Impact tee.

Full Houses a success!

posted by Cheshire on Mon, Oct 22, 2007

Well, we didn't sell all the tickets, but Full Houses: A Poker Tournament to Benefit Impact Theatre was still a huge success: not only did we raise several hundred dollars so that Impact can survive and thrive, everyone had a great time at the event, and we're definitely making it an annual tournament. Thanks to our event sponsors, prize donors, players, volunteer dealers, and everyone who worked the event -- we could not have done it without you.

Join us Saturday for a chili splatdown!

posted by Cheshire on Thu, Oct 11, 2007

Come join Impact as we bring the heat to Crowded Fire's Chili Cookoff! Impact goes tonsil to tonsil with Crowded Fire, foolsFURY, and Playwrights Foundation as we compete for cooking glory. Oh, and it's a benefit, too: proceeds will be split among the participating companies.

Each team is required to provide three types of chili: meat, veggie, and "anything goes." I guarantee you that you have no idea what we have in store for the latter category. It will blow your mind.

Local theatre critics Chad Jones and Chloe Veltman are among the celebrity judges, and there will be two awards for each type of chili, one from the judges, the other from the crowd. So, let's see...two times three is...six! Yes, that's six trophies we plan on coming home with.

The cookoff is this Saturday, Oct 13, 11:30am-2:30pm at the El Rio bar. Plus there will be live bluegrass music. All this for $20 advance/$30 door. All the details are here. See you then!

The poker chips are here!

The Full Houses poker tournament chips arrived yesterday, and they are freakin' sweet! Thanks to chip sponsors Alyssa Bostwick, Pete Caslavka, Gail Caslavka, and Wayne Rawley, we were able to afford to put logos on the chips as well. The splat's on all of them, and on one side of the black chips is a Money & Run logo (Wayne, Alyssa, and Pete's baby), and on one side of the purple chips is "The Caslavkas," in honor of Pete's mom, Gail, and the rest of the clan. Want to get your hands on these? Come to the poker night, Saturday, October 20 -- just a week and a half from now!

Who's this hottie sporting her Impact gear and raking in all the chips? Why, that's Melissa, our artistic director, of course. Though she professes to not really know the game that well, Vegas is laying odds that it's all an act. She is a trained actor, you know. Come hang out with Melissa and the rest of the Impact crew at Full Houses: A Poker Tournament to Benefit Impact Theatre, coming up Saturday, October 20 at La Val's. There are only about 35 tickets left, so get yours soon.

So here it is, the news that Impact Fan Club members got about a week ago: we've announced the rest of our 12th season (which we've dubbed the "Seat-of-Our-Pants" season, for a couple of reasons). It includes new stories from old friends, as well as our first-ever non-Shakes classic. Here's the rest of the lineup:

A Very Special Money & Run Winter Season Holiday Special

Jukebox Stories: The Case of the Creamy Foam

'Tis Pity She's a Whore

If you'd like to know this kind of thing a week before everyone else, join the Fan Club.
