A Rehearsal-free Sunday!

It's great to have a day off from rehearsal, particularly when the universe pats us on the back by giving us such GORGEOUS weather to enjoy! Rehearsals are going, knock on wood, quite well.

As with any 14 (YES, 14) person cast, there have been some stumbles, some issues, but overall it's pretty great. I always have slight misgivings when presented with 14 people to herd (actors: similar to cats), but this 14 is an excellently professional cast. I think the most actors we've had at a single rehearsal so far is 13, but it didn't feel like 13, if you catch my drift. I tend to prefer smaller person casts--I think 5 is close to ideal--partially because I personally prefer smaller, more intimate rehearsals. The great thing about 'Tis Pity, though, is that the scenes tend to be pretty short, so there's rarely a moment when the stage is completely full of (alive) bodies (unlike other classics we've done). The smaller scenes create a feeling of intimacy that I find often lacking in large cast shows. It's nice.
