The past two performances of 'Tis Pity have completely sold out, and we've had to turn people away. We're psyched about having such a successful show, of course, but we also don't want to disappoint anyone.
There are only four performances left, and if you want to see the show, guarantee your seats by buying your tickets in advance.
Don't miss our staged reading of Ching Chong Chinaman tonight at 7pm at La Val's. Only $5 or FREE with your 'Tis Pity ticket!
Update: the reading was awesome -- thanks to everyone for coming out, to Lauren for letting us do it, and to our actors for doing such a great job! Stay tuned for a very special announcement...
Regina Stadnik is a longtime Impact supporter. We at Impact have been lucky to have Regina as a regular audience member for years. Now it's our turn to be her audience member: Regina is part of an awesome visual and performance art event based on the writings of Britta J. Austin called Whole Story: Notecards: A Living Museum.
There are dozens of local artists, dancers, musicians, and theatre folk involved-- many of whom I bet you know.

Dear Friends:
Prince and Brandon were planning to spend the summer visiting red-light districts in different parts of the world, but they have both evolved into curmudgeons who would rather watch TIVO-ed episodes of "Deal or No Deal" nonstop. However, they have agreed to emerge from their bilateral, Howie Mandel-induced hypnosis for four public performances of JUKEBOX STORIES in Boston, DC, Minneapolis, and Brooklyn in June. Details below. So we ask you: "Deal...? Or no deal?"

Finally -- the prizes have been announced, and tickets are on sale for Full Houses 2: A Poker Tournament to Benefit Impact Theatre. Grand prize is a Wii, and other prizes include gift certificates to great restaurants, theatre companies, and movie theaters, as well as things like a tour and tasting for four at Charles Chocolates.
The best part is, you don't even have to be good to win prizes, and everyone has a blast. Find out more and see photos from last time.
Last night, DMW and I saw opening night of Octopus by Steven Yockey at the Magic, and it was wonderful. The final moment is honestly one of the best things I have EVER seen in the theatre.
Read the whole thingI can hardly believe we're halfway through the run of 'Tis Pity. It seems like we only just opened two weeks ago, when in reality it was three and have only three more weeks of performances. Only 9 more shows! It's always interesting to watch a show grow and mature, which is one of my favorite things about stage managing, and this one has definitely gotten better with time.
On a side note, congratulations to Impact Artistic Associate (and 'Tis Pity cast member) Miyuki Bierlein, upon her upcoming college graduation! Mad props.
Ken Bullock of the Berkeley Daily Planet says that our 'Tis Pity She's a Whore is "great theatre, suspense, and cruel action that surpass mere melodrama.... Keeping it clear and close to the text, and moving right along, [director Melissa Hillman] gets consistently good performances.... As siblings turned lovers, Marissa Keltie and John Terrell...come through where it counts, with a sense of the transcendental drive Artaud talked about, hellbent and implacable."
We now have a trailer posted for 'Tis Pity up on YouTube. Check it out.
One of the actors in Impact's 'Tis Pity was handing a flyer to a friend yesterday when this actor (who shall remain nameless) was accosted by an onlooker. "I'm in the A.C.T. version of that," he smirked, "and we're laughing about you guys doing the play at the same time as us." Is this kind of snarkiness really necessary? Here's what I think.
