Wow -- as I write this, only 7 spots remain for our 3rd Annual Full Houses poker tourney. The prize pool will be huge, the food table will be overflowing, we'll have special guests in the house, and everyone will have an amazing time. Plus, on top of all the prizes you can win, just for playing you'll take home a pack of two world-famous Smiley Toothbrush Holders, courtesy of longtime Impact supporter and charter subscriber Phil Brown, who'll be playing the tournament.
Like I said, tickets are almost gone, so make sure you have yours.
The Full Houses prize list just keeps on growing: 2 passes to the Exploratorium and 2 autographed copies of Warwick Dunnett's Poker Wizardshttp://pokerwizards.net, which has expert NLHE tournament advice from some of the top names in the game. Plus, Warwick and his wife will be playing the tournament -- see how you do against someone who's sat down with the best in the field!
This year, for the first time, we not only have prizes for the top three winners, we have medals! These are made from the finest (ahem) die-cast metal in gold, silver, and bronze, with a custom ribbon in Impact's colors, black and silver. Photo after the jump.
Read the whole thingWe just keep adding more and more prizes to the poker tournament! We now have a second-place prize of a night at the luxuriously renovated Hotel Shattuck Plaza, a third-place prize of $200 in Saks Fifth Avenue gift cards, and more grab bag prizes: videogames from Eidos and gift baskets filled with gourmet poker snacks from Trader Joe's in Emeryville. Oh, and the $500 gift card arrived today from Amazon. I have to say, there's something quietly impressive about it.
We're still looking for a few volunteer poker dealers for Full Houses. You must know the game very well and be available 5pm-midnight on Saturday, July 11. We'll make it worth your while -- wink wink, nudge nudge. Call Cheshire at 510 551-9018 if you're interested.
Make sure to reserve your seat(s) at Impact's second annual poker tournament, Full Houses 2, this Saturday night. Save $25 by buying your tickets in advance! (That's like getting a rebuy for free at the tourney.)
Afraid to play because you think you suck at poker? No worries: of course it helps to be good, but everyone has a lot of chances to win some awesome prizes, because anyone who gets a full house or better gets one of our prizes valued from $25-150. Anyone can get a full house -- it doesn't really take any skill.
Plus there's free pizza and desserts all night, expert-level dealers, and great music. It's going to be a blast.
Finally -- the prizes have been announced, and tickets are on sale for Full Houses 2: A Poker Tournament to Benefit Impact Theatre. Grand prize is a Wii, and other prizes include gift certificates to great restaurants, theatre companies, and movie theaters, as well as things like a tour and tasting for four at Charles Chocolates.
The best part is, you don't even have to be good to win prizes, and everyone has a blast. Find out more and see photos from last time.
Well, we didn't sell all the tickets, but Full Houses: A Poker Tournament to Benefit Impact Theatre was still a huge success: not only did we raise several hundred dollars so that Impact can survive and thrive, everyone had a great time at the event, and we're definitely making it an annual tournament. Thanks to our event sponsors, prize donors, players, volunteer dealers, and everyone who worked the event -- we could not have done it without you.

Though advance ticket sales for Full Houses have closed, there are still about 25 tickets that will be available at the door. First-come, first-served -- be sure to show up no later than 6pm to make sure you get a spot.
Full Houses: A Poker Tournament to Benefit Impact Theatre, is this Saturday night, 6pm-midnight. You can win an iPhone, gift cards, theatre tickets, movie passes, and more. You don't even have to be good at poker to win these great prizes.
However, advance tickets are highly recommended, as we expect the event to sell out. There are fewer than 35 tickets still available -- get yours before they're gone.
The Full Houses poker tournament chips arrived yesterday, and they are freakin' sweet! Thanks to chip sponsors Alyssa Bostwick, Pete Caslavka, Gail Caslavka, and Wayne Rawley, we were able to afford to put logos on the chips as well. The splat's on all of them, and on one side of the black chips is a Money & Run logo (Wayne, Alyssa, and Pete's baby), and on one side of the purple chips is "The Caslavkas," in honor of Pete's mom, Gail, and the rest of the clan. Want to get your hands on these? Come to the poker night, Saturday, October 20 -- just a week and a half from now!
Who's this hottie sporting her Impact gear and raking in all the chips? Why, that's Melissa, our artistic director, of course. Though she professes to not really know the game that well, Vegas is laying odds that it's all an act. She is a trained actor, you know. Come hang out with Melissa and the rest of the Impact crew at Full Houses: A Poker Tournament to Benefit Impact Theatre, coming up Saturday, October 20 at La Val's. There are only about 35 tickets left, so get yours soon.
